REPORT ASTRO-WISE TELECOM 11 sept 2003
=======================================
Most items have been converted to AIs (see below)
++ Bugs, features and wishes should be directly reported to
responsible persons. The responsible person will provide a reaction,
asap.
++ Edwin reminds that in Q4 of 2003 our milestone is to have all
classes defined. When this is finsihed, Danny's life with updating
db schemas, syncing with code base etc should become simpler.
++ Edwin is in contact with Edinburgh about collaborating with their
exercise to put the Sloan htm code into DB2 (for the VO),
resembling very much our work on putting this in Oracle.
We indeed share the same frustrations on missing code.
++ We will organize a workvisit here in Groningen, dedicated to
photometry and flatfielding in the near future. Niightsky flats can
be discussed during that week.
New Action Items
================
AI Roeland 11/09/03

Start providing for stable (base) and development (test) branches
(earmarks) in CVS
AI Danny 11/09/03
Formalize procedure for schema-evolution between test and base
versions of the code
AI Alfredo 11/09/03

persistent). Evaluate if/how these tools encompass an integrated
full blown quality control system.

Is Fjodr available to help with STREAMS?
AI Roeland, Ronald 11/09/03
Make top level Dither recipe
AI Roberto 11/09/03

Open Action Items from previous meetings

AI RSi (Telecon 24/7/03)
Investigate if QC needs additional masking info
AI USM (Telecon 24/7/03)
Add USM cr-program to CVS and provide interface
Update 07/08/03 -- Changed responsibility from RRe to USM
AI EBe (Telecon 24/7/03)
Apply patch DBo to sextractor (fixes wcs issues)
AI EBe (Telecon 10/7/03)
Run astrobench on IAP Opteron, and send result to AGr
AI EDe (Telecon 10/7/03)
Circulate filenaming proposal in AW
AI EVa (Telecon 10/7/03)
Ask ESO to consider FTP as an *optional* alternative besides
USB/Firewire disks for data transport
AI RRe/RVe/DBo (Telecon 24/6/03)
Merge "Manual.tex", "Cookbook.tex" into a single document.
Update 07/08/04 -- README shall not be incorporated into this
document
AI RRe 02/06/03 (Telecon 2/6/03)
Contact ESO (Michele or Yves Jung) about status of Eclipse and
possibility to feed our changes to Eclipse back to the main Eclipse
branch again. Check out the possibility to introduce FFT in eclipse
for flat field pipeline.
Update 14/7/03 -- Sent message to Michele Peron, Added FFT to eclipse
AI DBo + MPa 10/02/03 (from the Munich GUI/Quality Control Meeting)
Automatic CVS updates for the pipeline.
[OAC will provide a script for this]
Related to this, although not a priority at the moment, is the desire
to have the pipeline installation streamlined into a single tar-ball
and a single install script. Currently the installation is too
cumbersome. This, however, can wait until a more mature stage in its
development is reached.
This AI should address versioning of code AND data base
Update: Danny will come up with a proposal.
Update: Danny will contact Mike about the scripts.
Update (10/7/03): Danny received script, Danny and Mike will come
up with proposal
Update 07/08/03 - Add note about versioning
AI Roeland, Danny 31/10/02
An implementation plan, splitting the design of the various WP into
specific tasks to be distributed over various AstroWise persons
should be made for WP1, WP2 (tools, not Visualization, as this is
already defined) and WP3.
Roeland will do this for WP1, Danny and Edwin for WP3, and NN for
WP2. This will go into the new schedule to be made before 1/7/03.
AI OAC 31/10/02
review and upgrade present recipes for calibration pipeline (bias,
FF, fringing) as far as quality control is concerned: check
specifications, test recipes, contribute to improve scripts (due
1-3-03).
10/7/03 -- Number of modifications/additions now expected to be small
and finished within 2 months
AI USM 31/10/02
will play guinea-pig for the federated database- WFI data will be
used to populate a first version.
15/5/03 -- Mid-June prototype implementations will start.
